Spring Fever and a Free Book

It's exciting to have another new book out and so far the feedback I've gotten is pretty positive. I haven't done any book signings yet with this one--see the following paragraph; I'm waiting for spring. Perhaps it will still be new enough to do signings about conference and Easter time. Since I'm not doing signings right now, I think I'll sponsor a contest. To enter, simply leave a comment on this blog anytime between now and the first of February. I'll recruit one of my grandchildren to draw a name from all those who comment and send the winner a copy of High Country.

I know it's nowhere near spring, but the sun is shining today and I feel very "done" with winter. I want to see crocuses peeking through the ground and the little pointy ears of tulips bravely thrusting their way upward. As a child, I loved winter, but now I worry about slipping on the ice (either my feet or tires); I don't like to be cold, and I'm really not into dingy, gray skies. To be honest, when the Christmas holidays end, my internal calendar always says enough with winter.

There's a great article on Meridian today concerning the new Draper Temple. Our home is located on a hill to the far western side of the Salt Lake Valley and we have been thrilled with the view of the new temple from our bedroom window this past week since the lights have been turned on highlighting it. We're also looking forward to the addition of the Oquirrh Mountain temple this coming summer, especially since we'll be in that new temple district. Since our home was built we've been able to look out and see the Jordan River Temple at night, but now we see two temples, and soon three. The Oquirrh Mountain temple stands out beautifully now in the day time, but isn't lit yet at night.
Again, leave a comment. When I announce the winner that person will need to contact me to give me a mailing address.

Hi Jennie:

Comment for sure. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Jennie's latest release?

Done with winter? I was done with it on November 1st. I envy anyone who lives on the Hawaiian coast instead of the Utah Lake shoreline. I also pity Hawaiians for not appreciating the difference.

How much do your grandchildren charge to pick the right name out of hat?

Hi Jennie,
Love your cover!! By the way, I'm very much a spring person and we're having spring-like weather here when we were having frigid temsps and tons of snow. We had some Shnooks winds come in and blow everything away. I had my annual PET Scan today and start my Rituxan next month after not having one for two months, due to spending a week in the hospital and then having Bob follow suit 10 days later for a week. We're doing better, but just started a month long regime of weekly iron infusions to build my energy back up. Bob is finally on oxygen, which has done wonders.

Hope you're doing well and hope your grandkids can be as good at picking my name as Jason's was Sep of '07. Just kidding!!!!

Susan couldn't get the link to work so she emailed me. Here's her comment:

I met Jennie at our new PG bookstore, Provident Books. I haven't read one your books yet Jennie but they are on my list!

Can't wait to read this one, Jennie! I reread the one about the single girl on her way to California for Christmas and was kidnapped along with a little boy and they were all stuck in the blizzard over Christmas. I hate it that I can't remember titles! Anyway, I barely finished it before my granddaughter confiscated it. Now I'll have to be careful when I win this one that I actually get to read it before Rachel gets her hands on it!! Provided, of course, that I win it!
I have to tell you that my daffodils and hyacinths have just poked their tiny green heads through the cold ground. I'm so afraid my peach trees are going to bloom - then freeze - because we've had such lovely warm sunshine during the day for two weeks. Of course, at night, it freezing! So I have spring fever, too.

I'll let the other girls have a chance to win, but wanted to say the cover is beautiful--AND, if you're really tired of the cold, Georgia is BEAUTIFUL this time of year!! ;)

Ooh, I want to enter the drawing!

And would this be a bad time to tell you it's supposed to be 68 degrees here today? :)

I already have it on Audio but would LOVE a signed copy! I started the Bracelet series over again waiting for High Country :)
I know what you mean about the snow! We were in SLC adopting our 4th a few months ago and it was the first snow! I had only brought flip flops and capris to wear during our stay-I got a new wardrobe out of the trip along with a beautiful baby boy!

I am always up for a copy of one of your books. I had a friend track down all of your older books that are no longer in the stores so I could read them all.

Sorry to say it has been gorgeous here this week. I think in the low 70's. Too bad things aren't blooming yet. Just head on down to Phoenix and we will make sure you get a good dose of sunshine!

Congratulations on the new book, I agree the cover is very intreging, they did a great job on it.

I agree about Hawaii, I just moved back to IA after being away for 10 years, and now I remember why I was away :P, I was wishing some of my children lived in Hawaii so I could go live with them there ;P.

My name is Amanda Riggs. I live in Price. I love Jennie Hanen's books. I think my favorite book is "breaking point". But it is hard to pick a favorite. Code red is high on my list also. Jennie, thank you for developing your talents so we can read your books!

I live in SC and the closest LDS bookstore is 2 hours away. I don't get a chance to go very often, but when I do I usually end up buying about 6 or 7 of the most recently released books from my favorite authors. Jennie, you are definitely one of my favorites! However, this latest book came out a week after my last trip to the bookstore, much to my dismay. I would love to win a copy since I don't know when I'll make it to the bookstore again. Thanks for writing such wonderful books!

I've always been a fan, but this one I think is one of my favorites of yours. I couldn't put it down.
I loved the characters and was sad to turn the last page and find out the book was over.

I read "Some Sweet Day" last week. It was very enjoyable. I really didn't like the bad guys and rooted for the good guys/gal. You did your job as a storyteller!

I'm ready for spring too. We had a fake spring last week, so I was really disappointed when the extreme negative temperatures returned. Congratulations on the new book.

Hi Jennie,
Wow, I actually just finished this book. I borrowed it from a friend, but would love to have my own.

I too would love for spring to come - sooner rather than later. I am sick of winter, and I have never been fond of snow, especially now that I have to drive in it. Well, I hope I am the lucky winner.

You're one of my favorite authors.

hi, it's me! melissa c said...

Hi! I found your post from Josi's. Your new book looks wonderful. We our horse people and love a good story where ranching, horses, and open country are involved. I would love to read your story! Good luck with it!

I read a snippet of your new book in the Our Ladies Room Writers Group. I am highly intrigued. I will cross my fingers that my name might draw the attention of the lucky child making the decision.

To Lynn Gardner's comment... it's Chance Encounter - and an excellent book!

I find it hard to pick a favorite Jennie Hansen book... they're all good enough that I have read them all (with the exception of the newest ones) many times over. Thank you for excellent fiction!

Wow! I'm flattered, excited, thrilled that so many of you responded to my first contest ever. It has been wonderful to read your kind comments. I'll post the winner tomorrow morning.
Amanda, congratulations on your new son. That is so exciting. We are anxiously awaiting word that our adopted grandson will be getting a new brother or sister soon.
I'm still tired of winter. No snow today, but lots of fog again.
